In the Karachi vs. Multan run fest, Vince and Khushdil dominate the chase.

by Brands Kahani 13 Apr 2025 0 Comments

Karachi overtook Multan's 234 for 3 in the final over, while Mohammad Rizwan's 105 not out in 63 balls was in a losing cause.

Multan Sultans 234 for 3 (Rizwan 105*, Bracewell 44*, Ghulam 36) were defeated by four wickets against Karachi Kings 236 for 6 (Vince 101, Khushdil 60, Seifert 32, Akif 3-41).

470 runs in a thrilling run-fest that reaches the final few balls. There should be a handful of those at every T20 competition, and PSL 10 included one on the second day. Two hundred years as well. James Vince and Khushdil Shah's 142-run partnership put the Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans apart on a terrible bowling day and led the hosts to the third-highest successful chase in PSL history.

Khushdil, Vince's ideal counterpoint, fulfilled his promise with a 37-ball 60 from No. 6, while Vince, whose determination was clear from the moment he went out at the loss of David Warner's wicket in Karachi's chase of 235, masterminded the victory with a 43-ball 101. For Karachi, who had missed the playoffs the previous three seasons, it was a much-needed boost.

Mohammad Rizwan's century gave Multan a big total

Mohammad Rizwan's brilliant century of 105* in 63 balls earlier in the game gave Multan a spectacular display. Adam Milne bled a lot during the powerplay and had trouble controlling his swing early on. Early in the match, Hasan Ali gave Shai Hope an outside edge and bowled

After obtaining a start, Usman Khan stuck to his disorganized tactics and was eventually stumped. Before holing out in the 15th over, Kamran Ghulam amassed a solid 36 in 19 balls, refusing to let the momentum slip. The in-form Michael Bracewell gave Multan the huge finish they needed with a 17-ball 44 not out, sparing no bowlers in the type of innings he regularly plays for New Zealand.

Karachi should count themselves lucky that they were able to overhaul the objective despite giving up 22 extras. The bowling show was mostly inconsistent, particularly in the last moments.

Warner was the center of attention during the chase, and everything was in place for him to lead his team to victory. Warner got off to a quick start by hitting a boundary off David Willey, who had a forgettable day after hitting 40 in two overs. He was trapped lbw after being undone by Bracewell, but Warner chose not to use DRS, which would have reversed the decision.

In his explosive 16-ball 32, Tim Seifert attacked from the other end. Akif Javed, who bowled the day's fastest delivery at 147.6 kph and finished with 3 for 41, then nicked one through to the keeper.

At the end of the seventh over, with Karachi in a vulnerable position at 79 for 4, Khushdil joined Vince, laying the groundwork for a game-winning stand. They took the game away from Multan together.

While Khushdil warmed up to the task from the other end, Vince sped away to a fifty off 23 balls in the eleventh over. Shahid Aziz, who made his debut in the thirteenth over, was clearly anxious when he was given the ball at a point when both batsmen were well set. Karachi needed 80 more runs in seven overs and were comfortably at 155 for 4.

With two overs remaining, Chris Jordan pulled things back a little with his yorkers in the fourteenth over. However, despite having a lot of experience bowling in the late overs, he was dismissed for 21 in the 16th over, which ended the match for Multan. In the 17th, Vince hammered Akif for three boundaries and a six, causing him to lose control.

There was a chance that Multan may cause some panic because Vince and Khushdil were not in the middle to smash the winning runs, but Karachi did not blow the chase with just 14 runs remaining and more batting to come.
