Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced Lahore’s first electric bus service as a pilot project, marking a step towards eco-friendly public transport.

She personally took a ride on one of the electric buses during the launch and received a briefing from Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar about the project. The buses come with modern features like Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, GPS tracking, and designated seats for differently-abled passengers.

The service will operate along a 21-kilometer route, connecting Lahore Railway Station to Green Town. The buses have been imported from China, and nine charging stations have been set up to support their operations. The fleet is expected to serve around 17,000 passengers every day.

Passengers will also benefit from digital payment options and real-time tracking of bus locations, making commuting more convenient. This initiative highlights Punjab’s focus on providing a cleaner and more efficient public transport system, ensuring safer and more comfortable travel for the people of Lahore.
